Welcome to the TEXAS INSTRUMENTS web museum. Let me introduce myself. I'm Fabrizio, the curator of this online museum. I have been a fan of all types of technology since I was young. This museum is dedicated to the conservation, documentation and sharing of technology of all these objects that have made the history of Texas Instruments and beyond !! Much of the technology we enjoy today, such as personal computers, smartphones, tablets, gaming systems and a host of other devices with a microprocessor "brain", has its genesis in the technologies developed following tenacious experiments.

Together with other enthusiasts we are promoters of many initiatives including cultural activities, such as conventions, conferences, but above all participation in exhibitions, fairs, meetings with students in schools and museums by making our TI material available.

This museum is always looking for watches, calculators, games, computers of historical interest. If you have one of these objects made especially in the 20th century, the museum may be interested. If you have something that seems to fit these interests and you are looking for a new home, contact US with information about your object.

Take a few minutes and ENJOY this time !                           striscione

In 2023 the voluntary organization " TI Watch Museum - ODV " was born !!!
If you have the opportunity to support those who work for free, in this non-profit museum, and with the aim of opening a museum in the city of  Rieti dedicated to Texas Instruments. contact US !!!

You can support us by donating your 5x1000, entering the tax code 90094080570 in your tax return.

With these few words to describe how was this great passion !!! qr code

In the 70/80 dwelling near the settlement of Texas Instruments, has allowed me to gather a lot of  material, production waste, purchases in the farm shop etc, in the following years, I continued with uncontrolled purchases worldwide.
I want to thank all the people who have allowed me to acquire material worldwide and continue the expansion of the watch museum dedicated TI !

Here is how did the passion for Texas Instruments, then production of the famous calculator Datamath

the home computer TI99/4Athe famous watch TI-500   and

many other products that have made history !

From this was born the largest watch museum......

My little anecdote !!

When I was growing up in the 1970s, the first most memorable watch I ever owned was a digital watch made by Texas Instruments (TI) ... and when I got it for Christmas, I was living in the FUTURE !!! TI-500 LED Watch (Slim Dial) The watch was part of TI's TI-500 line of LED digital watches. The heart of the watches in this watch line was the same for everyone, but the style of the case was different. Although the LED watches of the era were quite futuristic as it is, the version I got is what I think can be considered the most futuristic looking watch in the TI-500 line. It had a narrow dark red lens that sat squarely in the middle of a "stacked trapezoidal" case. The narrow lens resembled the visor of a space robot. There were some special versions of this watch that had images printed, such as racing cars, at the bottom of the dial. Under the battery cover, two LR44 watch batteries are inserted which will give you around 30-40 days as long as you don't keep pressing its shiny buttons all day.

A watch like this didn't show the time all the time. He would drain the battery in days, if not hours. LED displays weren't very efficient back then. To view the time, press a silver colored button that protrudes at the top right of the watch body. Pressing it once displays the time for about one second, then switches off. You can hold the button so that it is displayed longer and after a few seconds it will switch to the display of the actual seconds that are increasing. Press the button twice and it will show you the day in MM / DD format. It does not keep track of the current year.

The only other watch button is recessed into the watch body at the bottom right. Use a pen or pencil to press it and you can set the time and date through a series of button presses. You can also "synchronize" the number of seconds, as I did every morning when I came to school and synchronized it with the school bell clock. I knew until the SECOND when the bell would ring at the end of the lesson!
That said, this style watch was the first in my life when it came to digital watches. Yet it was the only LED watch I would ever own for a long time. LCD based watches soon entered the scene in the late 1970s and I never thought I'd spend the rest of my life buying "cool" Texas Instruments digital watches !!

datamath

The Datamath Calculator Museum helps to preserve the spectacular achievements of Texas Instruments on the electronic calculator history initiated with Jack Kilby’s invention of the integrated circuit (IC) in 1958, the Cal-Tech project in 1965, leading to the “calculator-on-a-chip” in 1971 that made the calculator available to everyone. The Datamath Calculator Museum features every Texas Instruments calculator from the early TI-2500 Datamath introduced in 1972 to the latest TI-Nspire CX graphing calculator, the educational toys started with the Little Professor and the all speech products like ET’s Speak & Spell.

peek&poke

…to PEEK&POKE, one of the few permanent displays of vintage computing technology in Europe. Opened in 2007 as an educational and a non-profit project by a couple of computer enthusiasts, the museum today spreads across 300 square meters and features more than 1000 exhibits from the world and local computer history alike. We are home to anything from calculators and game consoles to rare and obsolete computers from the 20th century, as well as an extensive library of computer books and magazines from that era. Take a break from an ever-advancing computer world of today and step into the past at a place we hope to always be a fun gathering space for younger generations to envision our future by learning from the technologies of the past.

Oh, and not to forget… Most of our exhibits can be peeked at and poked as much as you'd like! :)

nightfallIt could take a lot to tell about our group, so I’ll try to sum it up as much as I can. Me (Xad) and Fox started about in 1982, by using a ZX81.

We used to spend hours and hours typing in programs written in Basic from various computer magazines to see what they did. The programs were often very basic Games that did not always work or even save properly to tape, and would sometimes fail to re-load before they have even been run.

The ZX81 had this horrible membrane keyboard. The ZX81 that we owned also had a dodgy power cable that could full out at any time after hours of entering thousands of lines of code containing endless lines of data.. Then we founded a group, called ‘Dracula Soft‘. It happened in 1982-83, we were three: XadLeoFox. At the beginning we had fun programming in LM (Language Machine) with a Commodore 64. I remember the nights we three spent in my very small bedroom to code and to listen to the games sound files. Personally, I enjoyed so much those kinds of music and I adored theirs authors, people like Rob Hubbard, Martin Galway, Ben Daglish.

This on-hands experience is invaluable. Original goals were to observe manufacturing of MIFARE tags at Mikron, which then was starting manufacturing on 180nm technology (this was concluded in 2013), look closer at KR580VM80A - CPU of my first computer (this was concluded with full reverse engineering in 2015) and finally - look with greater details at simpler CMOS chips (7400/4000 series) as a starting point for DIY design.
